Turning Leaves

Adirondacks, New YorkEven if something is left undone, everyone must take time to sit and watch the leaves turn. - Elixabeth Lawrence, American writer It is funny how intimately one gets to know one's subjects when photographing. Since you are in the moment, one tends to remember all the nuances of each plant, flower, rock or leaf. Years afterwards, when returning to the same location, I greet the item and check on its condition. So I find it interesting, that I can not tell you exactly where this photograph was taken. I know it was taken in the Adirondacks. I wish each of you could experience a nature photography workshop, It is so funny to hear the oooh's, ahhh's and gasps of delight as sixteen people fan out through the woods looking for beauty. We call such sounds, leaf 'gasms or flower 'gasms. I think this photo must have been taken at an incredible leaf orgy at the edge of Stillwater Reservoir. Some days you hit enchantment. This was such a time and place. The leaves were colorful, fresh and wet. Everywhere you looked was another prize winning photograph. We have stopped at the same spot annually for nine years. Every other year we soon got back into our cars and traveled on. This year we stayed.
