Owens River
Mountain snow, the source of water for the Owens River, this in turn supplies a lot of water, by way of aquaducts, to the Los Angeles, CA area. This image was taken near the Owens Valley town of Bishop, CA.
East Branch Aqueduct No. 1
Water from Lake Oroville, North of Sacramento, CA., flows under Interstate 15 on its way to the Silverwood Lake reservoir near the Cajon Pass Jct., West of Victorville, CA.
East Branch Aqueduct No. 2
Water from the Lake Oroville area, North of Sacramento, flows in the aqueduct near Ave. S in Palmdale, CA. on its way to the Silverwood Lake reservoir near the Cajon Pass Jct., West of Victorville, CA.
Pyramid Lake Reservoir
Water from the West Branch Aquaduct ends up in Pyramid Lake, where the old 2-way traffic road used to go, then flows through the Angeles Tunnel and then into Castaic Lake, terminus of the West Branch.
Wind Gap Pumping Plant
Located near Mettler, CA., this is the discharge lines from the Wind Gap Pumping Plant. The Edmonston Pumping Plant is the highest single lift pumping plant in the world, raising water 1,926 feet to cross the Tehachapi Mountains, then water flows by gravity into the Antelope Valley, where it divides into the East and West Branch Aquaducts.
Silverwood Lake Reservoir
Located near the Cajon Pass Jct, on I-15 West of Victorville, CA., East Branch Aquaduct water, from northern California, flows into this lake.
