The Marais is the former suburbia of the nobility, transformed into a down-to-earth residential neighborhood after the king and his court relocated their pleasure palaces to Versailles and other locales at the end of the 18th century. Home to unpretentious boutiques and some of Paris' oldest architectural remains, it seems like it's possible to see just about anything here.

Eyes On You
This Siamese cat caught my attention while I was photographing the flowers in this rock garden. I was struck by his curiosity and his intense blue eyes as well as the way that the leaves framed his face.
