Death Valley Sand Dunes No. 1
Taken just before the sun went behind the local mountain. Early morning and late afternoon is a great time to photograph the Sand Dunes, when it's not windy. Located in Death Valley Nat Park, CA just a couple of miles from Stovepipe Wells Village.

Lone Pine Pk and Mt. Whitney

Yellowstone Falls
A beautiful waterfall as it comes roaring out of Yellowstone Lake and into the Yellowstone gorge. There was still a lot of snow visible from the winter build-up in the gorge.

Two Petrified Logs
An interesting place to visit, early in the morning or late afternoon. After a rain is also good, as the petrified logs seem to show their color better when wet. Petrified Forest Nat Park is located near Holbrook, AZ

Mesa Verde Cliff Dwelling
To see how and where these Indian Cliff dwellings were built is a piece of history worth taking the time to visit. Located in Southwestern Colorado near Cortez. These dwellings were built about 1200 AD.

Canyon de Chelly
The trail to the stream that runs thru Canyon de Chelly, and the Cliff Dwelling "White House Ruins", goes around the base of the colorful cliff in this image. A very nice place to visit for photography.

Rafting on Green River
My first river raft trip was on the Green River that runs thru Dinosaur National Mon in Utah. The following year we went on a raft trip on the Colo. river thru part of the Grand Canyon. A lot of thrills when you hit the big rapids.

After driving thru part of Joshua Tree Nat Mon in CA, we finally came to this spot just as the sun was setting. A beautiful view looking toward Mt San Jacinto above Palm Springs, CA.

Sunrise @ Grand Canyon
After a trip thru Colo., I stopped the last night at Williams, AZ and went to the Grand Canyon for sunset that evening and got up early and was there for sunrise the next morning. A beautiful place to photograph early in the morning and late in the evening. Photo taken from Mather Point.

Coral Pink Dunes No. 3
Coral Pink Dunes State Park, Utah is located near Mt Carmel Jct and Kanab, Utah. A paved road takes you thru some cattle grazing country for a few miles and suddenly you are there. Early morning and late afternoon, the color of the sand is like the name says "Coral Pink" and a beautiful color.

Yosemite Falls
Wind blown water from the falls drifts off to the left. In spring, when the snowfall is at max-melting, this can be a beautiful sight. Located in Yosemite National Park, CA. One of the most heavily visited of our National Parks.

Found in a cow pasture near Mariposa- CA several years ago. Encountered a rattlesnake in the rocks while trying to get through a barbed wire fence.

Sixty Lake Basin
Four of us went on a 65 mile backpack trip, some on the John Muir trail, from South Lake above Bishop to Onion Valley above Independence in CA. The last two nights of our trip we slept just to the right side of this image.

Ancient Mono Lake
The light colored formations have been formed in this ancient lake for many years. When Los Angeles started taking water from this area for one of its sources, the water in the lake has been lowered to where these formations are visible.

I needed a climbing rope to let myself down the steep bank to get to this falls and also to help me get back up the bank. Located along Tioga Pass road going to Yosemite Nat. Park in CA.

Bryce Canyon Nat. Park, located in Utah, is one of the most popular parks in that region as well as Zion Nat. Park.

Cedar Breaks Formations
Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument is located near Cedar City in Utah. While somewhat similar to Bryce Canyon, its colors and formations are different.

Big Foot Formation and Tree
Located in Cedar Breaks Nat. Monument, UT. Colorful formation eroded by thousands of years of weather. This image shows the strength and character of these trees to withstand this type of torture and still survive. These trees may be Bristlecone Pine as they do grow in this area.

Fall Color in Iowa

This snow-covered desert mountain is a little over 11,000 ft in altitude and is located in Death Valley Nat. Park, CA.

Manzanar Historical Site
This image of The Manzanar Historical Site, where Japanese-Americans were Relocated during World War II, is located in the Owens Valley near Independence, CA. Sometime in 2003 there will be a Historical Display Center at this location for people interested in the history of this area.

Checkerboard Mesa, located in Zion Nat. Park in Utah, is another very famous and popular landmark to photograph. I happened to be there, after an early season snow, and I believe this image gives this landmark a different appearance than you might normally see.

This image was taken during the final ascent to Galena Peak-9330 ft- during my first mountain climb in California. I almost got wiped out by a VW size boulder that came crashing down the headwall at the end of a canyon we were ascending.

Living Glacier in Nevada
This image proves that there really is a Living Glacier in Nevada. Directly below the summit of Wheeler Peak, at just over 13,000 ft., you can see the evidence of the Living Glacier as this image was taken on the 4th of July in what is now Great Basin National Park

Charcoal Kilns of Death Valley
This image of the Charcoal Kilns, located in Death Valley National Park in California, was taken in ascending the rough road in Wildrose Canyon on my way to climb Telescope Peak. They were used to make charcoal, for smelting the gold, that used to be mined in this area quite a few years ago.

As the sun slowly sinks below the horizon, Wind Farm generators may continue to operate 24 hours a day if there is enough wind to rotate the blades. Located near the desert town of Mohave, CA.

On top of the hills, near the desert town of Mohave, CA.,are row after row of Wind Generators, with blades slowly rotating in the wind to generate electrical power that will be used somewhere on the power grid.

Solar Alternate Energy
Located East of Barstow, CA., near Yermo, are computer controlled sun-tracking mirrors, focused on the top part of the tower that heat water to make steam, that in turn generates electrical power for the power grid. When operating, as seen here, it looks like a giant light bulb.

Owens River
Mountain snow, the source of water for the Owens River, this in turn supplies a lot of water, by way of aquaducts, to the Los Angeles, CA area. This image was taken near the Owens Valley town of Bishop, CA.

Water from Lake Oroville, North of Sacramento, CA., flows under Interstate 15 on its way to the Silverwood Lake reservoir near the Cajon Pass Jct., West of Victorville, CA.

Water from the Lake Oroville area, North of Sacramento, flows in the aqueduct near Ave. S in Palmdale, CA. on its way to the Silverwood Lake reservoir near the Cajon Pass Jct., West of Victorville, CA.

Pyramid Lake Reservoir
Water from the West Branch Aquaduct ends up in Pyramid Lake, where the old 2-way traffic road used to go, then flows through the Angeles Tunnel and then into Castaic Lake, terminus of the West Branch.

Wind Gap Pumping Plant
Located near Mettler, CA., this is the discharge lines from the Wind Gap Pumping Plant. The Edmonston Pumping Plant is the highest single lift pumping plant in the world, raising water 1,926 feet to cross the Tehachapi Mountains, then water flows by gravity into the Antelope Valley, where it divides into the East and West Branch Aquaducts.

Silverwood Lake Reservoir
Located near the Cajon Pass Jct, on I-15 West of Victorville, CA., East Branch Aquaduct water, from northern California, flows into this lake.
