Still Water
With the summer being so dry, it was a project finding water in the mountain stream beds. This is at the base of Devil's Path in the Catskills. Devil's path has 7 of the Catskill 3500 club high peaks.

West Portico
This is the west side of the Vanderbilt Mansion as the sun was setting. This historical site is located in Hyde Park, NY. Overlooking the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains in the distance. Formal gardens are maintained during the growing season.

Mohonk Morning
Hiking from the parking area to the formal gardens at the Mohonk Mountain House, this view came into sight after coming to the top of a ridge. The Mohonk Mountain House is in the background.
Pot of Orange
The neighbor's cat found this old metal pot a wonderful place to enjoy the afternoon sun. Cats and kittens find the most unlikely spots to sleep.

Path to Portland Head Lighthouse
this was a wonderful sunny day with a strong wind - took a walk on the other side of the lighthouse and found this view.
Peaks Island Wave
Peaks Island is outside the harbor at Portland, ME. You can take a ferry across with your bike and enjoy an gentle hour bike ride around the island. It was wonderful sitting watching the ocean waves break on the rocky coast.
Yellow Butterfly
For once I found a butterfly that enjoyed it's picture taken. I must have been able to take 15 photos, normally as soon as I get close enough, the butterfly is gone. Lucky for me this one liked this particular flower.

this is on the drive through cottonwood pass. the sign marking the continental divide is just to my left. This view is looking west towards the Pacific - the directions the any streams will take from that spot

Assignment: food
this was taken for an assigned subject category for competition at the Greene County Camera Club which meets in Greenville, NY It received a second place award. This still life was fun to do and of course you get to eat the props
Diamond Notch in the Fall
this is the waterfall created near a trail junction of the Devil's Path, formed by the waters of the Westkill Creek. One path leads to Hunter mountain and the other goes to the peak of Westkill mountain. Both mountains are part of the requirement for the Catskills 3500 club
Westkill Creek 2
Westkill Creek is near some of the Catskill 3500 peaks. It is a pleasant walk into where the trails junction with the stream within view the whole distance. This is a photo from a hike I did this fall.
It's October
This image was taken in Southern Vermont during the fall of 2002. For me it is a fun scene. Pumpkins, scarecrow, fallen leaves - all part of October and fall in the Northeast. Sights like this are found all over New England.
Fence in the Fall
Fall colors in the background with a wonderfully designed fence as the main point. I purposely made sure the flag was in the bottom right as a contrast to the other colors in the scene. This was taken in Bennington, VT
Multi-colored rose
this is part of my collection of photographs of roses. I have found rose gardens in the Hudson Valley that have wonderfull collections of roses. Hyde Park has a couple of gardens open to the public at the historic mansions.
single daisy
I just enjoy taking photos of wildflowers. I hope to do more next year using a macro lens that I am planning on purchasing. Then you can really see the detail of the flower.
Yellow Gerbers
I enjoy flowers, both as a photographer and a gardener. I had just recently purchased my first digital SLR camera and want to experiment. I stopped at Black Horse Farm nursey in Catsill and found these flowers. It is one of my favorite shots.
Tulip Bouquet
This a photo of a group of tulips that I had growing in my yard. I used my studio setup to create the photograph. I like the different shapes and colors.
Spring Tulips
The Capital District has a Tulip Festival each spring. I was at Washington Park one spring when the tulips were in full bloom. Every one can enjoy the wonderful display of flowers.
Props to Eat
The wonderful thing about taking photos of food is that you get to eat it after you are done. This was a successful photo for me in competition. I had a framed photo hanging in my kitchen until I exchanged it with another.
Blue Eyes
This is my cat Misty. I was taking still life photos and he jumped onto the table. He is a very good model. This was very successful image in competition. He is a Himalyan breed.
Water and Rocks
This is one of the many waterfalls in the Catskills that I have photographed. I have favorite spots that I like to return to in different seasons. Due to the level of water, they always are different.

This is a still life photo of the different berries available at roadside stands in the Catskills during summer months
